Quick card using gg designs stamps

This is a quick card I made with scraps from my stamping table. My mom bought me a pad of Colorbok paper for Christmas and I like the coordinated patterns.

I couldn't figure out how to finish the card so I got some great ideas from Stamping Critique blog. I uploaded a picture of what I had done and I got lots of feedback about how I could improve my card.

The stamps are all by gg designs. The three flower patterns are from the Heather's Big Bold Blossoms set (named after me). I can't remember the name of the other sheet- it has a bunch of greetings in the same postmark style format. I love them because they punch perfectly with a 1.5" circular punch.

Back to painting tomorrow- and I don't mean the fun kind- I mean painting walls! But I am listening to the audiobook "The Host" by Stephanie Meyer as I paint and it helps pass the time.

Rumble #5 sketch- Clear Artistic Stamps

I saw this sketch over on the Clear Artistic Stamp (In the Cottage Studio) blog last week and made these cards with it but haven't taken time to upload them until now. I used the Shadows of Memories set, which is my favorite Clear Artistic stamp set. The decorative paper is from Kodak and I bought it ages ago. This probably isn't the time for fall colors but that is what had on my stamp table. I also had a stash of shimmer paper and used a copper colored scrap to frame one of the layers. I love shimmer paper. I am so glad to see the CAS design team using it! Have no idea what I'm talking about? Check it out here.

Win a Ribbon Ring starter kit!

A bunch of the reporters at Craft Critique got to review the Ribbon Ring, a way to organize ribbon and fibers. My review appears HERE.

Yoohoo or is that UHU?

A few weeks ago I sent away for a free samples of Uhu Twist & Glue in exchange for using it to make something and posting about it on my blog. As you know, I was a big fan of tape runners because they are less messy. I wrote a long article about it for Craft Critique HERE. Anyway, I stopped using liquid glues on paper because of warping, lumps and residue and it just didn't look good after it dried.

I was skeptical to try a liquid glue on paper again but it was free and they sent along some extra goodies. I was very pleasantly surprised. The product is non-toxic and acid free and dries clear (but a bit shiny where it oozed on a card). It washes out with soap and water. I really like the shape of the bottle and a retractable needlepoint applicator.

Now the downside, like with all liquid glues, sometimes you apply a bit more than you need. I had some glue ooze out when I used it one some smaller punched pieces on a different project. It dries kind of stuff which is fine for a card but I wouldn't use it on something that was supposed to be flexible. Bottom line: I really like the product and I would by it again.

PS The layout of this card was inspired by a sketch on the Clear Artistic Designs blog. All of the designers contribute and it has some great ideas. The original sketch post is HERE.

Fate conspired against me today!

I had planned to have an all day (or at least until 2:45) artfest but at 9:00 my husband called. He was at a meeting about an hour away from the house and he had forgotten something. Yup- he asked me to bring it to him so that ate up about 3 hours (I had to stop at the grocery on the way home and pick up a few things for him.) My daughter got home from school and needed extensive homework help. I got her into bed when my husband arrived home. Normally, I don't see him in the evening and had eagerly anticipated my art time tonight. So when he announced he had work to do I grabbed my Netflix envelope containing Serendipity with John Cusack and headed for my studio. I got 3 cards made. I wanted to show you but my camera battery is dead.

Sneak Peak

Sorry, I didn't post any new art this weekend. It has been a pretty busy weekend in my neighborhood- an impromptu party, birthday party, cookout, bonfire with fireworks, Baptism and fire! Last night we woke at 4am to the sound of fire trucks. Our neighbor's deck caught on fire but it was caught early (4am baby feedings come in handy) and luckily nobody was hurt. So it was an exciting neighborhood.

So I didn't make any art this weekend. I did however create a small project for Earth Day that will appear on the Craft Critique on Monday. HERE IS THE LINK TO IT. There is also a PART 2. I also finished a product review (in between the festivities). It might appear this week- a bunch of my teammates reviewed the same product so the reviews will appear over the course of a few days. A sneak peak of my article topic appears above.

Tomorrow art- once I get my husband and kiddo out the door!

Blog Brownies winner

We have a winner! I know it is hard to see but I let Random.org choose the winner- comment #4 left by Maria (Stampin Inspirations by Maria). Her blog always inspires me. Congratulations Maria!

And thank you to everyone who visited and commented. Y'all come back now y'hear!

Many Thanks Butterflies & see what I bought

This is a quick thank you card for my aunt and uncle. I used one of my favorite gg designs stamps called "Butterfly Kit". They are such nice bold stamp and I love them with chalk ink. The sentiment is by gg designs also.

Over Easter I visited my parents in NY and they have aHobby Lobby store. I love Hobby Lobby and I miss having one in my town. See the silk flower pieces? They are from Bazzill and they were on clearance at Hobby Lobby. I also picked up a gridded acrylic block and a happy birthday stamp which are both by Stampabilities.

Birthday ala Unity Stamp- Day 4

Welcome to day 4 of Birthday cars featuring this cake image from the Simple Pleasures set from Unity Stamp Company.

If you missed the other cards here they are:
Day 1
Day 2
Day 3

Normally, I wouldn't layer red on pink but I think it worked here. Plus, I didn't have the right brown or patterned paper! The sentiment is from Hero Arts. The lower cake is embellished with a heartshaped faux gem that I won as a prize. It fit over the heart nearly perfectly.

Saturday I got to go to Hobby Lobby. We had one in Knoxville near my home and I miss it a lot. I showed great restraint. I bought 1 gridded acrylic block (I have a long one that I love so I bought a square one.) I also bought a clearance pack of silk flower pieces and a happy birthday stamp. One can never had too many Happy Birthday stamps!

Happy Easter!

Birthday ala Unity Stamp- Part 3

Welcome to day 3 of my birthday card bonanza featuring this cake stamp from Unity Stamp Company. Today's card features orange. I didn't intend to go orange but that is where my creativity led me! I think this card could be a masculine card as well... or is the paper too girly?

This is my favorite card of the 4. I really like how the patterns work. The birthday sentiment is from a Studio G set and the image stamped PERFECTLY- I just love when they happens! The background paper is from Colorbok and the 2 smaller rectangles are scraps from Miss Elizabeth paper.

Birthday ala Unity Stamp- Part 2

Welcome to day 2! I was attempting an Neapolitan look to my cakes but I didn't quite make it. This is a simple card with minimal layering. I can think of at least 1 friend who thinks it needs ribbon but I like the simplicity. I think I could be a masculine birthday card. What do you think?

The cake image is from Unity Stamp Company and the greeting is from the defunct Jody Poesy.

Birthday ala Unity Stamp- part 1

Over the next 4 days you'll see a different card made with this hear cake image from Unity Stamp Company from a set called "Simple Pleasures". I received the set when Unity sponsored the February issue of SheetLoad. Not only do I love Unity Stamps (they come in these adorable little sheer bags), this cake image is my favorite stamp in the set. I liked it so much that I stamped and colored many, many of these cakes. And they have been sitting on my stamp table for nearly 3 months. Time to make some cards!

This is my first card and the most elaborate. I added punched flowers and Stickles and layers. The sentiment is an oldie from the defunct D'Analen which is now part of About Art Accents.

Finally some time in my studio...

Yesterday my husband took my daughter to the park so I had a little time in my studio. I really liked the March sketch from SheetLoad and this was my first chance to try it. I don't normally make 4x4 cards but I thought these were the perfect size for gift cards. I made the blue one for a birthday party my daughter will be attending next week. The birthday boy is turning 3 so I didn't put a lot of time into it since he'll probably be more interested in the sidewalk chalk and walkie talkies we bought him!

The images were leftover copies of digital art from The Greeting Farm (April SheetLoad sponsor.) I am really becoming a fan of digital art because you can resize it and print it a cajillion times.

SheetLoad/ ShortCuts Stuff
