Farewell to 2009

This is my last post for 2009 and I have used this adorable snowman image from My Grafico (and some never ending DP from American Craft). I added some plaid to the scarf and a small flower to the hat. The snowflakes were punched out of scrap metallic holographic paper. The sentiment is computer generated and reads: "All is Fair" and inside reads: "in a snowball fight!"

Thank you very much for a wonderful 2009. I'm grateful for the wonderful people who support my artwork and blog.

Happy New Year (again)

Hello everyone! I took a few days off to spend the holidays with my family. Hope you enjoyed some time with your friends and loved ones. Yesterday my husband, Mom and I hit the sales. My Mom and I both bought breadmakers. I love to make cinnamon rolls and pizza dough so wasn't surprised when my husband scouted one out and put it in our cart!

This card features an image from Squigglefly and some Miss Elizabeth paper. They had a release yesterday and this was one of the new images. I played with her porportions a bit to give her a curvier figure. I bought the paper years ago and I loved it when I bought it. I still like it a lot but I am ready to finish the pack... and like some of my other paper- no matter how much I use of it there are always leftovers!

I also have some exciting stamp related news for you at the end of the week ;) I'll also return to my 6 posts per week posting schedule too. But for now I am enjoying my family (ok and I am unpacking and decorating my house).

Squigglefly- Here's to you!

This is a freebie image from Squigglefly called, "Here's to You" which was drawn by co-company founder, Chesney Young. This freebie was for members of the Squigglefly group on The Card Universe Ning network to celebrate their latest release featuring Shy Bears, birds, gingerbread men, cats and whimsical birthday designs.

I love a freebie like anyone else but I fell in love with this image instantly! I printed out 1 sheet of 3 images and my daughter immediately claimed it so I had to print more. I decided that the original image was a bit skinny for my taste so when I re-sized her disproportionately so she became a bit curvier and more a size 12 than a size 4. That is one of my favorite things about digital images- the ability to manipulate and re-size them.

After I colored and cut my decorator paper (from a never ending piece of Miss Elizabeth paper) I realized she needed something. I considered a black New Year's top hat but decided this chick wouldn't want hat head!

So I decided to give her some jewelry! I love faux jewel stickers because they are fun and easy and cheap! I used some faux pearl stickers and some gems from a snowflake themed set.

SheetLoad- Simple, Special, Stunning

It is time for the December edition of Simple Special Stunning at the SheetLoad of Cards blog, featuring samples by Denise Wallace.

Each month one of our artists will share three different cards that use the current layout. Each card is a "step up" from the previous one, but they are all fabulous. It is a good way to show how SheetLoad is geared toward papercrafters of all levels.

Here are some sneak peeks to whet your appetite...

Snowglobe Card

This is a snowglobe card made with an image from Sunshine's Stamps for a challenge on Show & Tell & Scrap Pages Ning group.

Elegant Christmas Card

This is a special Christmas card. This is the last time I use this image (Candle and Ornament) from Sunshine's Stamps for this holiday season. Want to know why? It is a very nice image- one of my favorites from the the holiday collection. I love the open spaces which make it so easy to color with Copics and metallic markers. And who knew that the orangey red color I chose for the ribbon would look so good with this orange print paper from Miss Elizabeth? But I'm not using it anymore this holiday season.

And the reason why is...

My wonderful husband hooked up our printer! Now I can print any digital images I want! Anytime I want to print them! Yahoo! Our new Internet set-up is a challenge to say the least but my husband fixed it all and I can print again! And again!

This card is going to be mailed to my aunt and uncle in Florida.

My new craft room (BEFORE)

Hi everyone! I've been very busy unpacking and making our new house into a comfortable home. I purposely worked on the rest of the house and ignored the calls of the boxes in my stamp room to be unpacked. Yesterday my husband fixed the loose legs on my stamp table and helped me build my shelves and moved some of my heavy boxes. As you can see from the pictures, I haven't unpacked it all but I have most of my critical stuff accessible now.

In my last studio, I started storing supplies in clear shoe boxes. It was so easy to grab what I needed and the contents would stay clean and dust free. It is easy to stack the boxes too. When it came time to pack for our move I stuffed a bit of packing paper inside and packed 4 or 6 of them in a moving box. I also store my reinkers in mini plastic bags in the plastic shoe boxes so if one does leak, the mess is minimal (but luckily that hasn't happened to me!)

The original owners of our home had nearly wall to ceiling mirrors on the long wall hosting my shelves and Iris chests. Seriously, who wants to look at themselves that much? So with the help of friends my husband took them down last weekend. Unfortunately, some of the drywall came down too so we are going to repair the damage and paint. We are considering having recessed lighting installed to make that back corner a bit brighter. The denim curtains are going to go bye-bye too! That window overlooks our back yard which has a treed area behind it. Last week a herd of 4 deer strolled through our back yard as we ate breakfast.

My new space is smaller than my last studio but now that I am using a bedroom on the second floor, I'll be closer to my family and if I craft at night and my daughter needs me I'll be nearby. We put the small computer desk in the room too so my husband can use our laptop and keep me company.

My husband keeps some of his clothes in the closet because our master bedroom closet isn't so master- LOL! I will get either the floor or the upper shelf for additional craft storage. Of course I wouldn't think of using both... that would be so wrong... convenient though ;)

Lastly, I have stepped down from my design team position at Memories Always Forever group. After careful consideration, I have decided to focus my creative energy on stamping and digi-stamping. Card making is something I enjoy doing and stamping is supposed to be fun so I'm sticking with what makes me happy.

Thanks for looking at my craft space. I'll snap more pictures as work progresses.

We've moved!

It was a close call but we are officially living in our new home! Yesterday morning the movers called and said their truck had broken down but as soon as they got a new alternator they would try to get to my house by afternoon. They arrived at 3pm and the only major problem is that my couch doesn't fit through any door in my house. So it is in my garage and we'll sell it and buy a smaller couch. My stamp room is shaping up and tomorrow our Internet will be installed so I can post artwork again.
