Seriously Satisfied Birdy

Meet the Kuruku Birdy drawn by Ashley Summers for Squigglefly. I love this image (it is a classic image- aka not a recent release) and think it would be great for all sorts of cards- Easter, summer, spring, kids, etc.

Speaking of Squigglefly they had a release yesterday. Go check it out and let me know what your image you liked best. I loved the practical "Happy Everything" set. But then again I do like the "Pears" but the "Shy Bear Bubble Bath Bear" is really cute too... No wonder I can't pick a favorite!

Tomorrow Squigglefly will be coming out with their weekly challenge and it is a good one!

Valentine Turtles

I had a little free time today and finished 2 more cards for charity. As I have mentioned in the past, I won't ever be able to use all of the cards I create so I donate many of them to ShareaCard.org. You can read about their organization on their website but essentially they send cheer in the form of cards to those who are ill or need cheer. Not only do I respect the work they do, I appreciate that they always take the time to send me an e-mail to tell me when my package of cards arrives at their office.

Both cards feature a cute turtle image from MyGrafico.com It is part of an adorable Valentine's Day set which was given to the Scrapbooking and
Crafting Friends DT.

The top card features this week's Squigglefly color scheme: bashful blue/ certainly celery / medium pink. (I know it doesn't have any Squigglefly images on it- sometimes we just make things that don't make logical sense!)

The second card features a hand stamped background. Can you believe that Valentine's OBSESSED me doesn't own ANY patterned VD paper? NONE. So I used 2 of my favorite hear stamps to create my own.

Squgglefly Classics

Rah rah- I made 2 cards! Actually the image above is Rah Rah Rhonda from Squigglefly. I have LOVED Rhonda ever since she came out last summer but I never got around to buying her until 2 weeks ago during a Squigglefly sale. I had a blast dolling her up with pearl earrings and a glitzy ponytail holder.

I LOVE this little baby image from Squigglefly. I made this birthday card for a friend who had her 4th child. I figure she has seen every kind of baby boy card ever (3 of her kids are boys) so I went a bit non-traditional.

Oh by the way... if you visit Digital Tuesday Challenge Blog someone you know won the random prize drawing from last week! I nearly fell off my chair I was so surprised!

Call me yellow if you want to make me mad!

Welcome to Sunshine Wednesday- today's card was created with an image called "Lovee Sitting". I was also inspired by the Saturday Spotlight with Hidden Potential challenge for this week which was to use "mostly yellow" in your creation (SSHP15). Did I mention that Sunshine's Stamps is sponsoring the challenge too? Well you know now!

I had so much fun making this card last night. I set up the laptop in my rewly rennovated craft room (which still has paint smell) and watched/ listened to: Greek, Secret Life of the American Teenager (only because Molly Ringwald is in the cast) and watched a streaming movie called "Love to Dance" AND part of a Natalie Wood movie called "Inside Daisy Clover". Needless to say I was in y craft room until WAY too late! Can't wait to see the rest of the Natalie Wood movie- I love classic movies.

Call me yellow:
Digital Image: Lovee Stting
Stamps: Sentiment (Studio G), Fish Bones (Creative Mode)
Paper: Colorbok
Punch: Delta

Glitz: Stickles

Shy Bear Candy Bear makes hs debut

Check out Candy Bear, the newest of the Shy Bears from Squigglefly. This image was part of Saturday's release. Shy Bears are so cute- I had a blast making this card. The "My Sweetie" is from Unity and the U + R are from All Night Media.

Talk about a busy couple of days! The contractors finished doing some work in our house, including some drywall work in my craft room. My husband and I painted my craft room over the weekend and moved my stuff back as soon as the paint was dry. I was so happy to put my things away! I really missed my craft room but now it is a lovely shade of yellow (and has smooth walls!)

Sneak Peek

You'll see the rest of the card later (that is speak for "due to the remodeling projects in our house this week I wasn't able to finish this card yet) PS Rah Rah Rhonda is not one of the new images... you'll see cards with the new images later today or tomorrow

Squigglefly has a new release today. One of the best ever! Check out the images right on the main page. I love the family snow day, the Shy Bear with the cell phone, and Curler Surprize! I love being a member of the Squigglefly DT and one reason is I get to see some of the new images early ;)

I'm really excited about the new images and (having my craft room back on Monday). I have been coloring up a storm this week, now I just need to dig into my embellishments and papers.

Thanks for reading my blog. I appreciate everyone who visits.

Blabbermouth Love

The name for today's card was suggested by my daughter. I liked it so much I immediately decided to use it (much to her delight.)

Today's card was created for Creative Card Crew Challenge #43- Punch It. This fortnight's challenge is sponsored by Sunshine's Stamps. The lips image is called "Sealed with a Kiss" and it just screams BOTOX!

Last night I dismantled my entire craft room. We have a contractor repairing some drywall in the room and hopefully I'll be able to move back in (and unpack EVERYTHING) over the weekend. Needless to say, I have never wanted to play in my craft room as much as I do tonight!

Squigglefly Challenge #32

Squigglefly's first challenge (#32) for 2010 is LIVE!

Create a clean and simple card with some blue

Check out the samples from the DT here

AND the winner gets a free Squigglefly image

This is my card. Sadly, I could not get a decent picture no matter what I tried. I edged around the letters to pop them and added TEXTURED hearts. My husband and daughter both praised my card (and they are my worst critics and are brutally honest).

Below is a close-up of some of the details I added. Just trust me on this- it is a cute card in person ;)

Behold Winter

I just love this new image from Squigglefly called, "Snowman in the moon" it has such great folk art style. They had a huge new release yesterday. Plus they are having a sale for all of their newsletter subscribers. I have my eye on a few more to buy later today: Puppy Love, Tweet Friend, Rooster. Plus a few others from the last release. This new release has all sorts of styles.

Tomorrow is a new Squigglefly challenge. It will be my team's turn (the team is split into 2 sub teams who alternate challenges). It is a good one ;)

In other news I got the deal of the century yesterday at Lowe's. On their clearance table was a custom order cellular shade that was cut to almost the exact width of our garage window. It loks like someone custom ordered 2 for their bedroom and the other had a huge tear in it but this one was PERFECT. It was originally $107 but it was marked down to 55 CENTS. That is right 55 cents. We grabbed it and are using it on our garage window. Great deal!

Steamy get well card

This is a Squigglefly image called "get well soup" and was drawn by Rich Davis. As soon as I saw the images I immediately thought of this DP (part of my never ending Miss Elizabeth paper stash from many years ago!) To me the circles were a continuation of the steam (or they could be oyster crackers being tossed into the soup.)

I tossed on a few punched hearts that I made with my new Fiskars heart punch. Can you believe hearts and valentine addicted me did not own a heart punch until last week? Shocking I tell you! LOL OK I do own a tiny one but that doesn't count!

Don't forget that on Saturday Squigglefly is hosting a pajama party to celebrate its new releases. There are some really cute stamps... you'll see me use them tomorrow ;)

Bee Mine

This is one of the Sweet Bee's from Sunshine's Stamps Valentine's Day collection. Kind of fun ;) I added the vertical sentiment before printing (one of the things I really like about digital stamps.) I did something unusual for me and added red staples as an embellishment. I've never been a huge fan of staples on cards and my opinion didn't change after making this card LOL

The days after Christmas I hit JoAnn's with my mom and we found some cardstock glitter stacks on clearance. My mom doesn't stamp but she bought one too to use as mattes for photos. I purposely chose a stack that had basic colors like red and green and champagne and yellow so I could use the stack for more than Christmas.

Today we had enough sunshine for me to wear my sunglasses while I was driving! Very exciting and a rarity for dreary winter. The snow has receded a bit and my last holdout neighbor has turned off their Christmas lights. I know the cold will be here for a while so I'm keeping my family warm by using my Crockpot to cook salsa chicken, teriyaki chicken and lemon chicken. My husband bought me the hugest pack of chicken breasts in the world and told me to cook them all so he could bring them for his meals at work. If you start seeing me cluck instead of stamping, you'll know why!

Makeup sentiments

This card feature's part of Squigglefly's new 8 piece set called Makeup Kit. The tube is actually blank which makes it perfect to add your own text or designs to it. Last week on the Squigglefly group on SNR the color challenge was to use turquoise, artichoke and brown.

I haven't made my project for it yet but the Squigglefly Challenge Blog is hosting its first challenge for 2010. Challenge #31 is to make anything but a card! Check out the design team's projects.

Lastly, there will be a digi day event at the squigglefly group on Card Universe ( http://snrcardiverse.ning.com/group/squigglefly ) this Saturday at 7 pm central time. It's going to be a pajama party with games and lots of fun prizes.

Are ewe ready for this?

Meet Sherman- he's single and desperate for you to be his Valentine! Actually Sherman is part of Squigglefly's latest release. I think he is fantastic (but I'm married so he is available ladies!)

This card is also part of 3 challenges:

Friday Sketchers Challenge #84/ Digital Tuesday #40

TGIF!
Today I'm playing in a sketch challenge that is new to me- Friday Sketchers. This prize for this week's sketch challenge #84 is sponsored by Sunshine's Stamps.

For my card I used one of the new Valentine Bees from Sunshine's Stamps. He kind of reminds me a bit of John Belushi in his bee suit on Saturday Night Live. My papers are from Miss Elizabeth and my sentiment was computer generated.

Will you fall in love if you get stung by a Valentine's Day bee? LOL This is a Valentine's card for my husband which was the Digital Tuesday Challenge #40 for this week. I love Digital Tuesday Challenges but haven't played lately due to lack of time. But I can't resist Valentine's Day ;)

Maybe I got bitten (as I shoveled 3 inches of snow from my driveway!)

Get your bounce back

This is an image from Squigglefly's release last weekend. The image is called "Get Your Bounce Back" and is by artist Rich Davis. The fun part about being on a design team is getting the chance to work with all different images. I had been looking at some Easter stuff before I made this card and it must have subliminally used those colors on my card.

I kept it really simple. I tried adding hearts, ribbon and bling but nothing worked. So I decided to keep it simple and use the yellow brads.

Squigglefly has a new release Saturday (wait until you see ;)

When is a Valentine NOT a Valentine?

Don't you just love that cute bear image from Sunshine Stamps? His name is Christmas Bear and originally he held a candy cane in his left paw (I trimmed it off and added some white cardstock to form a new border). The first time I saw him I IMMEDIATELY wanted to use the image for Valentine's Day (my FAVORITE holiday). So I was good and quiet and didn't say anything about it until now.

I could not find a matching red ribbon, so I colored white organza ribbon with a Copic marker. I love that it dries permanently and doesn't smudge all over as you tie the ribbon.

Sunshine Stamps also has a bunch of very cute bee themed Valentine's Day images and you'll see some cards with them in the next few days.

Distressed over thank you notes?

Here's the background story to these thank you notes: The week before Christmas my 9 year old took a class with a Ranger certified instructor. Part of the class involved using Inkssentials Blending tools with Distress Inks to color tags. My daughter had used Distress inks with me but I didn't have the tool so I bought one for her and one for me. One afternoon my daughter and I each colored a pile of tags. Some of my tags are the basis for my thank you cards.

Recipe for Tags:
1) Use blending tool to apply the lighter shade of Distress or Nick Bantock Ink (Ranger) to tag. Apply darker ink around the edges of the tag. Keep blending, adding more ink if needed.

2) Randomly stamp speckled marble stamp (Inka) onto tags using Linen Distress Ink. This is to add some dimension so complete coverage isn't necessary.

3) Randomly stamp silhouette flower images (Starving Artistamps) with Linen Distress Ink or Deep Turquoise Nick Bantock Ink.

4) Stamp Thank You (Jody Poesy) on tag in brown Versafine ink.

5) Rub edges of tags with darker ink.

6) Add ribbon.

And in case you are wondering about the papers I used- they are Miss Elizabeth (Dollar Tree). See the orange tag on the Turquoise background? I used the ink tool to change the background paper to match the sentiment. Good way to use up paper that isn't quite the right color.

Thanks for reading!

Hello 2010!

Happy New Year! Hope you all got enough rest last night.

Well my big news is that I am thrilled to announce that Squigglefly Digital Stamps has selected me to be a member of their design team! Very exciting stuff and the new team members and some returning members have had a fun week getting to know one another. We're a fun bunch- and you must check out their blogs- the links are in my sidebar. The image on my card is called "Proud Papa" and it is new and will be released for sale tomorrow.

I would also like to announce that I now have accepted a new position with Sunshine Stamps. In addition to my current design team member role, I'm the new trend coordinator and I'll be searching the world for the latest and greatest new stuff. Since I'm perpetually bombarding Christina the owner with ideas, now I'll have a fancy nameplate for my office door (just kidding).
