Squigglefly had a new release today. Some of the best sentiments and images ever! Some great cake and chocolate sayings. And also....
GIBSON GIRLS!
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Gibson Girls and Rich Davis has created several of them. Make sure you check out Vintage Hat. I'm just over the moon about these. If you like the vintage look, you will become a Rich Davis fan too!
Tomorrow my husband blows out candles on his birthday cake and hopefully the snow which resulted in a delightful snow day Friday will let up. My arms are sore from shoveling.
Welcome to Sunshine Wednesday. Today's card features Emily and a sketch created by my teammate Tracey for a challenge on our Ning group on Show and Tell Cards and Scrap Pages. I really like this sketch. As an added bonus, I was able to whittle down two more scraps of patterned paper.
I took this photo a few minutes ago and propped up the card under my full spectrum light. WOW- I am amazed at how good the color is on my card. I know that is what it is for but my goodness this definitely will help me when I have to take photos at night.
Today is Monday- and time for a new Squigglefly challenge. This week is #37- a sketch challenge. The image I used is called "Pretty Window Box" and I am a tulip lover so I bought this because I had to have it! I am a fan of using part of an image to add interest. The sentiment is from PTI.
The second part of my card today was a challenge that Holly gave us Saturday at Squigglefly's digi night. She challenged us to use pink/ yellow/ brown as a color scheme for a card. As soon as I saw the challenge I KNEW EXACTLY which paper I would use! OK you are probably not as excited as I was but it is good to have the right paper!
On Thursday of this week I'll have a review on Craft Critique and Wednesday I'll have a sketch challenge card from Sunshine's Stamps and another cool project later this week.
Have a wonderful Monday!
PS So much for following the sketch correctly- I put my sentiment on the wrong side!
No new art today- in my efforts to upload only my best work, some days I just don't have time to finish any of the 6-10 projects which seem to live on my stamp table.
I was very busy today:
Played with the new sewing machine and helped my daughter sew a seam (she did very well!)
Grocery shopped
4 loads of laundry
Cooked a bunch of stuff
Prepared our tax stuff for the accountant- and to make it more fun we moved out of state last year- always extra work with an out of state move!
I did sneak in a little stamping this afternoon (very little) because soon after I sat down my husband and daughter wandered into my craft room needing my help. I find this fascinating because if I am cooking or cleaning they leave me alone. But the second I start doing anything fun... they are like Velcro! I did manage to get my husband to put my Ott light back together so now I can use it on my craft table.
Monday is a new Squigglefly challenge- it is a really cool one- you'll see my take on it tomorrow!
This is a Squigglefly image drawn by Rich Davis. I colored the flowers with tri-colored pencils and they got a bit muddy. But I did like the card enough to send it to my aunt and uncle as a thank you card.
In other crafty news, my mom bought my daughter a sewing machine. It is really nice- and it was on clearance so it was a great price too! I got to take a few practice runs with it tonight and so far so good! I can see some non-faux stitching in my cardmaking future (along with some quilting.) That's right- I'm going to try a simple doll quilt- better to start small.
This is a Squigglefly image called "Mr. Ritz" and was drawn by artist Rich Davis. I love retro so this is my type of image. BUT- and it is a big but- I have been singing "Putting on the Ritz" by Taco since I received this image!
Happy Sunshine Wednesday. Today's card uses MMSC41 sketch, which I absolutely love. My image is the orthodontically challenged, Emily from Sunshine's Stamps.
This week the kids have off from school. I have spent a lot of time in my studio and my daughter has been creating a lot of stuff too. We ventured to the library earlier today and after we dropped our books at the return counter we went to the children's area. Suddenly, I was paged to go to the reference desk. In our rush to get to our books together for the library, we loaded our DVD of Mary Poppins into our book bag. I'm very grateful that we got our DVD back. Mary Poppins is a family favorite.
This is an Audrey image from The Stamping Boutique. Isn't she cute? I used CPS 154 (Card Positioning Systems) sketch for this week. I added an extra sentiment (Paper Trey Inc.) to the first card.
Today is Squigglefly Challenge #36- Animal Kingdom. Most of my teammates made an animal their focal image, I actually went with this cutie holding a toad. I also just realized after looking at my team leader, Maria's blog, that the little cutie is supposed to be wearing a long sleeve dress. Well I'm just rolling with it!
Happy Valentine's Day 2010! This is my last VD card for 2010. I love that cute kuruku birdy from Squigglefly. I had a little fun and made the card open from the top and made a worm out of a pink pipe cleaner. Oh the pipe cleaner was donated by my daughter (she asked me to put that on my blog ;)
Happy Saturday! Today's card features "Where Love Grows," a 3 piece set of trees drawn by company co-owner, Chesney Young. This set is part of Squigglefly's latest release.
Take a close look at those trees- don't you think they would work well on a winter or a Halloween card too? I really like this set.
Regular followers know how much I LOVE Valentine's Day... well tomorrow is the big day so we're ALMOST DONE!
This week's Squigglefly Challenge #35 to create a shaped Valentine's card with non- traditional colors. Check out the design team's samples- some great work this week. The sentiment on my card is part of a set of 17 sentiments starting with "Happy". The set is extremely versatile and I love it. We even used that image for my daughter's valentines for her class at school.
You may have notice I have been gone for the past few days. I made an important career decision which took up a lot of my time this week. Ultimately, I'm going to be happier long term ;) Oh and in the middle of THAT fun, I caught a 24 hour stomach bug and my car needed some repair work. But I feel much better now- mentally and physically.
Welcome to the Pink Elephant Challenge Blog's 1st Anniversary! Ella the Pink Elephant turned 1 yesterday and the design team and 60+ fans of the blog have teamed together for this amazing blog hop. Everyone has chosen their favorite challenge from this year and has created a new card just for this hop.
Sunshine's Stamps is hosting a monochromatic card challenge and I was inspired to use "Fumble Pal" because today is SuperBowl Sunday. I kept it simple and more masculine- good card for a man. Only when I got done I realized I had used white, brown and green- not exactly monochromatic. But since I'm on the team and can't win the prize anyway I thought I would share the card. The sentiment is from Studio G. The grass is from a punch.
Squigglefly's new release is up at the store! Some great stamps this week. I used a stamp called "Peaches" by Lynne Stansbery. I colored the image with Copics and when I got done I realized my colors were intense so I made an overlay with Sheer Heaven which had been stained with coffee. My sentiment is computer generated.
OK- this card is NOT FDIC insured but on radio commercials after the announcer reads all the acronyms he usually ends it "FDIC insured"!
This truly was a challenging card. I used "Flower Pot" from Squigglefly and their weekly color challenge: gray, brown and pink. The sketch is Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge #39. I love how they now offer 2 variations of the weekly sketch. I actually used the more complex sketch- I know- I'm shocked too!
I love this image from Sunshine's Stamps. My only regret about this card was that I could not find my red polka dot ribbon until AFTER the card was finished!
It is Monday and time for a new Squigglefly challenge (and now there is a prize EVERY week!) For my card I used "Cheek to Cheek" by artist Chesney Young. This couple reminds me of a nicer version of the Costanza's from Seinfeld. I played with skin tones a bit and I was happy with the results.
The sentiment is from the last release and is part of a set of 17 sentiments created by artist Nina Brackett. A great set because it covers almost every occasion.
