Made with Love

Over on PCP Squigglefly group we are hosting a bucket list challenge and our bonus Squigglefly image artists and Rich and Angie Davis. The Pie Maker was drawn by Rich. I just love his vintage style images. Players in the bi-weekly challenges are entered into a drawing to win free images from Squigglefly (and since these challenges are new you have an excellent chance at winning.)

I have 2 secrets about my project:

1) The recipe book is actually a birthday calendar I got for 10 cents on clearance at JoAnn's. I bought it for the sole purpose of recovering it.

2) The strategically placed scalloped circle isn't as strategic as you might think... I had a little "problem" when I tore the border. I left myself a huge margin but RIPPPP- just tore a little too fast I guess!

Everyone loves bubbles

What a cute image! Bubble Blower Snowman was drawn by Cheryl Alger for Squigglefly. I had Mr. Snow colored last Saturday but just didn't get around to finishing a card until last night. School starts in less than 2 weeks- I can't wait to be back on a regular schedule.

With a cherry on top!

Welcome to Showcase Showdown Wednesday at The Digi Shack. Aren't those cherries cute? They are only $1 at the shop. If you like the "celebrate today" tag it was part of a freebie set for Facebook fans.

This is my first double pocket card. I cannot believe how easy they are to fold- I was always intimidated and thought it was some complex process that required lots of cutting and folding. Nope! Unfortunately my supply of 2x sided decorator paper was limited do I did what I could.

I'm getting my new Copics Thursday evening. I ordered them on a group buy right before July4th weekend and we are getting our markers finally! Can't wait! I need to order reinkers but wanted to wait until the markers arrived because I'm not crazy about my current brown (yup I only have 1 dark brown) and wanted to see my new browns before I decide what I need to order- more markers or reinkers.

A Mooving Card

Happy Wednesday! It is time for Showcase Showdown Wednesday at The Digi Shack. My card features an image by Brian Lock from the last release. My sentiment is computer generated (Toni wouldn't put such a cheesy sentiment in her store- she has way too much style!)

Want to be part of the next Digi Shack design team? Check out our call HERE.

TDS is also sponsoring the Creative Card Crew Challenge. The theme is "Sparkle & Shine" be sure to check out how their talented design team used TDS images.

TDS also has a guest designer this month- her name is Linda and she is so talented! Be sure to check out her blog: http://turtleinthesand.blogspot.com/

Bees Love Flowers

On the Squigglefly group on Paper Craft Planet we have a new challenge called, "Get Your Freak On," and this is my interpretation. The sentiment is a sticker from SRM and the image is called Flower Love Bee from artist Rich Davis. I love the style of this image.

Tonight it date night for my husband and I because my daughter is sleeping over at Grandma and Grandpa's house! Woo Hoo!

Craft Critique article published

My article about Shade-Tex Rubbing Plates was published yesterday on Craft Critique. Fun way to enhance coloring your digital images (or to texturize polymer clay).

New release at Squigglefly 8/14/10

Yesterday Squigglefly had a new release and I got to share in some of the fun because Holly sent me a few of the new images. I am forever amazed at Holly's knack to match images to my cardmaking style and personal taste.

My first card features, "Hang in there Monkey" by artist Revi Devi Paat. I immediately thought Curious George or a baby card or a card of support. I decided to go fancy and create an antique crackled background by over-stamping the colored image with some Distress ink. I was at a loss for background paper until I found what I discovered this in my stash- perfect jungle feel (giant frond leaves.)

My second card is a new set called, "I Chews You" by artist and company co-owner, Chesney Young. Wouldn't this be a great image for a Valentine's card? (I know, I know- I could visualize anything as a VD card!) The gumballs are fun to color! BTW- the pink blob on the O is a pink pom pom and not actual chewed gum... there is a point of being too realistic!

Yesterday was the final magic show at magic camp. The kids did fabulous- from age 5 through kids in their teens who had been attending for 5-6 years. All of the kids definitely gained some self confidence performing tricks in front of an appreciative audience. Even more fun was that the park is within walking distance of my parent's house so they got to see the show too.

My new crafting entertainment is The Gilmore Girls. I caught the show once or twice while it was on the air but now I am starting at season 1 disc 1. I have a ton of projects to finish so I'll finish season 1 this week I am sure.

Dream of Me

My card features yet another new image from artist Brian Lock for The Digi Shack. I went with a very simple layout and my result is something cute to slip into a suitcase when your beloved goes on a trip without you!

Showcase Showdown Wednesday @ The Shack

Happy Wednesday! Time for Showcase Showdown for the DT of The Digi Shack. Both of my cards feature images from Brian Lock's latest release. The fish is my favorite from this release. Check out the work from my teammates HERE.

I'm proud of my corners. I tried to be unique so I cut up some cardstock flowers to be different. If you are thinking to yourself, "Wow Heather, nice job coordinating!" You are right- the decorator cardstock matches the flowers (gift from my mom a few years ago). The cardstock was on clearance at JoAnn's for 10 cents per sheet.

My daughter is attending magic camp this week. The kids are learning simple card and slight of hand tricks. My daughter puts on a show for me to show me her new tricks in the evening. She is so cute- even when she messes up a trip she is full of bravado (I'm sure she has picked this up from the professional magicians running the camp.) I'm so happy to see her enthusiastic about trying something new.

New release at The Digi Shack

New release of Brian Lock images at The Digi Shack tonight and a release party and some special announcements tonight at 7pm EST in our SNR group.

Bargains

I haven't shared any of my recent bargain shopping with y'all lately. A few weeks ago I visited the Offray ribbon outlet- fun (as always).

Last weekend I happened to be near JoAnn's so I ran in there (I rarely buy anything there.) n the back are of the store was the clearance area. They had all sorts of paper and cardstock on clearance- textures, vinyl, prints, solids, vellums in 12x12 and 8.5 x 11 sizes. I grabbed 25 sheets of assorted papers and CS and a pack of Rain Dots embellishments. Not only did I get K&Co cardstock which exactly matches some K&Co flowers my mom gave me years ago, the Rain Dots were clearanced from 50 to 25 cents at the register. My "splurge" cost under $3.00!

Today I had to make a bank deposit for work and I stopped by Bits & Pieces which is kind of a used craft stuff store. You never know what they'll have. The prices are fantastic (they sell donated items) and the proceeds fund a senior project so I'm supporting a good cause as well. As you can see in the photo above, I spent 85 cents and got a wood mounted Heather stamp and a bag of buttons. The stamp is in excellent condition some slight staining on the wood around the mount but the rubber is clean and obviously the prior owner (we'll call her "Heather") took care of her stamp!

To those of you who were hoping to see a picture of a moose in my backyard- keep dreaming!

Channeling Cyndi Lauper

Meet KK from The Stamping Boutique. She is part of a collection of totally rocking kids, inspired by Tracey's family. You can check out all of the new designs HERE. Every since I first saw KK, I think of the song "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" by Cyndi Lauper.

We have had some visitors in our backyard recently. We have a neighborhood herd of deer that wander through the wooded area behind the houses on my street and eat our garden. We used to have some pretty range tiger lillies but the deer ate them soon after they bloomed. For the past few days we have had multiple sightings of a doe and 2 fawn enjoying the free buffet behind our house.

Calgon take me away... to the Digi Shack

Why am I calling this a Brady Bunch inspired card? (Answer below)

This is another new image from the talented Brian Lock which will be released by The Digi Shack this Saturday. If that wasn't good enough- ENTER IP303H4T in your shopping cart and get 20% off through the rest of today (Wednesday).

So back to my card... the inside says "Calgon take me away". This image is PERFECT for paper piecing. I popped the shower cap and shower head with various thicknesses of 3D tape. I even got inspired and threw in an arrangement of pictures (which will make my mother happy), a mirror and a towel. I also spilled a little water (Crystal Effects) on the floor (which will make my daughter happy).

Why am I calling this a Brady Bunch inspired card? Because there is no toilet in the bathroom. There is a cute joke about this in the Brady Bunch movie which I thought of as I finished my card.

Too Much Cake (& a sale) at the Shack

We're celebrating the upcoming release of Brian Lock's images at The Digi Shack. If that wasn't good enough, shop now and ENTER IP303H4T in your shopping cart and get 20% off!!!!! Really cool! I have more cards coming- two a day for the next few days.

Tomorrow at work we are having a client meeting. Client meeting is code for "we can't wear jeans and sneakers" which is what I usually wear to work. I work for a very small company and our environment is extremely casual. Guess I'll have to pull out some nice duds. Luckily, we don't have a lot of client meetings at our office!

Thrilled...

Happy Tuesday! This card features Sarcastic Cheerleader from Squigglefly co-founder, Chesney Young. I love this image- she is the ultimate 15 year old with an attitude. Chesney has a whole gallery of images on the Squigglefly site.

Chesney is also the featured artist on the Squigglefly Paper Craft Planet Group. Haven't joined yet? Check it out here.
